Year 10 Mock Interviews – Tuesday 29th March

Year 10 students took part in mock interviews on Tuesday 29th March at the Civic Centre. We had a number of professional volunteers from different industries including the British Army, Police and NHS along with some experienced parents and ex-students. The day was a huge success and our students were a credit to our school demonstrating a fantastic attitude towards their interviews. Our volunteers commended students for their confidence, professionalism and passion and were particularly impressed with the students’ preparation and presentation.

Well done Year 10, you should be really proud of yourselves and we hope you had a fantastic day!

A huge thank you also goes to our volunteers. We could not have run this event without you, your time is much appreciated and our students have had an invaluable and inspiring experience which will prepare them for future endeavours.

If you have not logged into the Go 4 Schools parent site previously, please follow the instructions which can be found under Information on our school website.

Dear Parents and Carers

In order to ensure the health and safety of our staff, students and wider community, the decision was made in March 2020 that non-essential visitors should not enter the school site.  Restrictions have now started to relax but we have decided to continue to hold parents’ evenings on-line as it has proven to be very successful. The Year 9 parents’ evening will take place on Wednesday 30th March at 4.30pm until 7.30pm, via video appointments. This is a wonderful opportunity to speak to your child’s teachers about the progress your child is making, whilst ensuring all parties remain safe. Given the importance of this academic year for your child, we hope many of you find this approach a helpful way of gaining further knowledge on how to support your child as they build up to their GCSE examinations.

You will be able to book appointments from Monday 14th March at 9.00am until Wednesday 30th March at 12.00pm.

We are using a piece of software provided through School Cloud and you can access the booking system through the following link: https://allsaintsmansfield.schoolcloud.co.uk/

Using the School Cloud Website

Parents and Carers, with School Cloud access, are those individuals who will have listed as Priority One and Two contacts on the admission form at the beginning of the academic year. It will be parents and guardians who have parental responsibility and that includes those with a court order in place. It is important that both first and surname, and your child’s name and date of birth is inputted in the same way that it is on the school system. If you are struggling to login, it may be because you are not listed as a Priority One or Two contact, do not have parental responsibility including a court order, or because there is spelling or numerical error on our system. In any of these cases, please contact, Mrs Scott with the nature of the problem: scott.l@allsaints.notts.sch.uk. By having both Priority One and Two contacts, it means that parents/ carers, who may live separately, can both be involved in finding out about their child’s progress.

At login, you will be asked for an email address; this is not authenticated with the email address that you listed on your child’s admission form at the start of the year; it is merely for School Cloud to send a confirmation email to you when you have successfully booked and saved your appointments.

The instructions at the end of the letter outline how to access the website in order to book appointments. Then, on the evening of your appointments, you will simply need to login using the same link and follow the onscreen instructions to begin the appointments you have booked.

There will a button stating: Join Video Appointments which you should press.

There is nothing to install as the video appointments run through the School Cloud website and it is compatible with the following web browsers:

  • iPhone/iPad:Safari
  • Android:Chrome or Firefox
  • Windows:Chrome, Firefox, or Edge (latest version only)
  • Mac:Safari, Chrome, or Firefox

The minimum requirement for this software to work is an audio connection*.

*Parents or teachers joining a video call using an iPhone/iPad running iOS 14.2 are likely to experience stuttering audio which may stabilize itself after some time. This issue is not specific to SchoolCloud Parents Evening and affects joining any video through the Safari browser on iOS 14.2. This is caused by a bug in iOS 14.2 which is logged on Apple’s bug tracker. We recommend you not use Apple devices running iOS 14.2.

The appointments will be five minutes long. There will be a countdown. The appointment cannot be extended; when the countdown gets to zero, the software automatically stops the call. The appointment begins at the allotted time of booking; therefore, if you are late, you can join within the remaining time of the five minutes, however, the appointment cannot be extended. If the appointment is missed, there is no way to rearrange this.

You will see a schedule for the timing of the appointments along with the teacher’s name and there will be a large square which states Start Appointment; in order to begin the appointment, you have to press this. The video appointment will begin when the teacher also presses this.

Once a call has finished, the schedule will update and then the next call will need to be initiated. There is no need to sign in or out.

Then at the end of all scheduled appointments, a confirmation button indicating that the appointments have finished will show and prompt you to sign out.

Whilst we are hopeful that all elements have been considered, as with any use of technology on a wide scale, there may be some technical issues. We ask you for your patience during this time. Any queries regarding using the software should be directed to our ICT Support Office: marsden.a@allsaints.notts.sch.uk

Yours faithfully

Today (Friday 4th March) we were visited by ITV Central who contacted the school having heard about the collection of items for Ukraine that has been taking place all week. The school community has donated the equivalent to over 300 ‘bags for life’ with donations including, clothes, blankets, sleeping bags, toiletries, nappies, baby milk and medical supplies.

The push on donations was started on Monday by a Year 11 student Molly who has family living in western Ukraine, she approached Mr Cuomo and Mr Sheehan and the within two hours students and the wider community had been made aware of what donations they could bring in and leave in the chapel. To see the chapel full of donations by the start of school was a truly humbling moment – the donations were then transported to Doncaster by Mr Sheehan who dropped them off at his church, with the donations going onwards to a lorry heading for Warsaw. On Wednesday morning even more had been donated and again the chapel was full, with the help of a number of 6th Form Students, again Mr Sheehan loaded his car and headed to the drop off point in Doncaster. That lorry has now set off on its journey to Warsaw with our first two days’ worth of donations safely onboard.

Even more donations have come in on Thursday and Friday and it is these that can be seen in the ITV news footage and in the images below.

The students who were interviewed by ITV including Molly spoke so passionately about not being able to stand by and watch the humanitarian disaster unfold and that they had to do something and that is why they have continued to bring in their donations.

We were also joined by the Mayor of Mansfield Andy Abrahams, who praised the efforts of our students in responding to the needs of those people in Ukraine and those seeking refuge in Poland.

Well done to everyone who entered our Reading Rocks competition.  There were some wonderful designs.

Our third-place winner is Nicole P in Year 8 with her wonderful Paddington Bear.

In second place we have Gandalf by Lewis W in Year 7.  Well done Lewis you’ve captured Gandalf perfectly.

Our winner is Maggie C in Year 8 with her absolutely incredible Harry Potter.  I’m sure you’ll agree that the attention to detail is amazing!  Well done Maggie.   Enjoy spending your £10 book token.

This Thursday we will be celebrating World Book Day in school.  Each lesson of the day will begin with part of a story being shared.   At the end of the day, pupils will have heard the whole story and get to discuss their thoughts.

There will also be a book quiz during tutor time to get involved with.

We will also be announcing the winner of our Reading Rocks competition. Don’t forget to bring your Reading Rocks into school before Thursday to be in with a chance of winning an Amazon gift voucher!

With the ever increasing numbers of refugees and displaced people within the Ukraine and neighbouring countries such as Poland and Romania, we are asking for donations of the following – which will be sent to the people of the Ukraine.

  • Medical supplies (plasters, bandages etc.)
  • Nappies, formula milk, babies bottles and baby wipes
  • Cleaning products including sterilising tablets
  • Sanitary Products
  • Warm clothes – hats, scarves, gloves
  • Tents, back packs sleeping bags, pillows and bedding
  • Torches, Candles and matches.

Students can bring donations in to school and place them directly in the Chaplaincy office or they can hand them to their form tutor.
