Open Eve Poster 2022

Dear Parent/Carer,

The School Aged Immunisation Service (SAIS) will be offering HPV 1st vaccinations to Year 8 students in school on Thursday 30 June 2022.   This vaccination session ONLY applies to students in Year 8.  It is important every eligible student has a completed online form which states if you would like them to receive the vaccination or not as this helps the school to prepare a timetable for students to attend for their vaccination.

As the session date is only a matter of days away, we should be grateful if you would register your online consent/refusal immediately by visiting the following link:

https://www.nottinghamshireimmunisations.co.uk/Forms/HPV_p1

The School Code for All Saints’ is: NG140698.

The deadline for registering your consent/refusal is Wednesday 29 June at 8.00 am.  Please ensure you have registered by the deadline.

As this is a medical matter, if you have any queries regarding the vaccinations or experience difficulty accessing the website you should contact the SAIS directly on 07920 182032 or via their email address SAIS@nottshc.nhs.uk – (please do not contact the school as school cannot give advice on medical matters).

Attached for your information are the following documents:

We would like to take this opportunity to thank you for your continued support.

Dear Parents/ Carers
I would like to begin by thanking you for the support you have given our Year 11 students and the school throughout this academic year. The exam season will begin in earnest on Monday 16th May and this will be an intense, but exciting time for both students and staff so your continued support will be very much appreciated.
As the exam season is running during the Covid pandemic, a number of steps have been taken by the examining bodies to support candidates including:
• advance information on the focus of examinations for most subjects to help candidates revise;
• provision of support materials for some examinations (formulae and equation sheets);
• changes to non-examination assessment and fieldwork requirements in some subjects;
• optional content in some GCSE specifications;
• generous grading in comparison to the June 2019 examination series, providing a safety net for candidates;
• a minimum of ten days between the first and last examination in each GCE AS, A-level and GCSE specification, which will reduce the chance of a candidate missing all examinations in a subject because of illness.
This is a new procedure for this academic year designed to ensure that students can achieve their qualifications by sitting all of their examinations, as would be the case in pre Covid academic years. We expect that students attend all of their examinations and they must arrive in school at 8.50am when they have a morning exam. This will facilitate a prompt start to examinations.
If your child is demonstrating symptoms of Covid (e.g. a high temperature, continuous cough), or is genuinely unwell during the exam season, then you should telephone the school as a matter of urgency (Press 1 when the recorded message tells you to do so), or send an e-mail to exams@allsaints.notts.sch.uk and we will be able to offer guidance and support in relation to each individual notified case. UKHSA guidance (April 1st, 2022) clearly states that students should come into school to sit examinations if they have cold like symptoms, so long as they do not have a high temperature. Students can also come into school if there is a Covid positive result in the household.
If you have any questions about the arrangements for examinations for students affected by Covid, please contact Mr Cuomo (Headteacher) or myself, Mr Hutchinson. Furthermore, if your child’s performance in their examinations has been disadvantaged in any way through the exam period (e.g. due to illness, bereavement, domestic crisis) and you think your child may be eligible for special consideration, please contact Mr Collins. The special consideration process will need evidence to support an application and is not guaranteed to change the result of a child’s examination positively.
In order to support your child with their GCSE examinations, you will find below the link to the “Revision and Exam Timetable”
https://www.allsaints.notts.sch.uk/information/examinations/
Students will receive a paper copy of this document which explains where ‘breakfast’ and in-school revision sessions take place, along with the times when examinations will start. Please encourage your child to attend as many ‘breakfast’ sessions as they can, as these will supplement the independent revision your child is undertaking, to allow them to be fully prepared for each examination they sit. Personally, I would be placing this document on the fridge or somewhere that is a central point in the household. In this way, everyone knows which examinations are coming up and the manner in which your child’s study across the week needs to be distributed.
There are a number of resources on the school’s VLE
(https://ascatholicacedemy.sharepoint.com/sites/AllsaintsVLE) that will support your child’s preparation for examinations. Each subject page contains knowledge organisers, past exam questions and topic lists, which help students understand what they need to revise. Furthermore, each student will have their exercise books and the revision resources they have produced throughout their Key Stage Four studies, to support with their revision. We would expect that students are spending at least 2 hours on revision at the end of a school day (attendance at school interventions would be included in this) and your child should have a revision timetable that clearly allocates time to revise, rest as well as take part in other hobbies, so a healthy medium is found during the exam season. If you need any advice on how to support your child in creating an exam timetable, please contact Mr Collins (Year Progress Leader for Year 11) at collins.a@allsaints.notts.sch.uk.
Your child does need to be prioritising their revision but they will also need to be encouraged to take regular breaks. Self-care is going to be very important throughout this period as the examination season is long and demanding. It is absolutely natural for your child to be worried or anxious about their upcoming examinations and results; at school we have encouraged students to try and reframe that narrative so they start to look forward to their examinations and build up their self-belief so any way this can be reinforced at home would be fantastic. Checking your child is getting a good night’s sleep before their examinations, eating a healthy and substantial breakfast on the day of their exam, and that their routine remains regular are crucial throughout this exam period.
It is wonderful to see the range of talent across the year group and I know that the vast majority of our students are working incredibly hard in the preparation for their examinations. Many of our students have already demonstrated some excellent work, either as part of their assessed pieces for coursework in a number of subjects or in their Art portfolios. As the exam season lasts up to six weeks for some of our students, praising their continued efforts will be very important for their confidence and stamina, so please help us to do this by acknowledging the efforts of your as they prepare for and sit these vitally important examinations.
Again, thank you for all of your support in terms of getting our Year 11 students ready for their GCSE’s.
Yours sincerely
Mr C Hutchinson
(Acting Deputy Headteacher)

Dear Parents and Carers

In order to ensure the health and safety of our staff, students and wider community, the decision was made in March 2020 that non-essential visitors should not enter the school site, unless in exceptional circumstances. Restrictions have now relaxed but we have decided to continue to hold parents’ evenings on-line as this format has proven to be very successful. The Year 7 parents’ evening will take place on Wednesday 11th May at 4.30pm until 7.30pm, via video appointments. This is a wonderful opportunity to speak to your child’s teachers about the progress your child is making, whilst ensuring all parties remain safe. Given the importance of this academic year for your child, we hope many of you find this approach a helpful way of gaining further knowledge on how to support your child as they continue their Key Stage 3 studies.

You will be able to book appointments until Wednesday 11th May at 3.00pm. As there is likely to be high demand for appointment slots, it would be advisable to book your parents’ evening appointments as early as convenient, as each teacher has a limit on the number of bookings they can take across the 3 hour event.

We are using a piece of software provided through School Cloud and you can access the booking system through the following link: https://allsaintsmansfield.schoolcloud.co.uk/

Using the School Cloud Website

Parents and Carers, with School Cloud access, are those individuals who were listed as Priority One and Two contacts on the admission form at the beginning of the academic year. It will be parents and carers who have parental responsibility and that includes those with a court order in place. It is important that your forename and surname, and your child’s name and date of birth is inputted in the same way that it is on the school system. If you are struggling to login, it may be because you are not listed as a Priority One or Two contact, do not have parental responsibility including a court order, or because there is spelling or numerical error on our system. In any of these cases, please contact, Mrs Scott with the nature of the problem: scott.l@allsaints.notts.sch.uk. By having both Priority One and Two contacts, it means that parents/ carers, who may live separately, can both be involved in finding out about their child’s progress.

At login, you will be asked for an email address; this is not authenticated with the email address that you listed on your child’s admission form at the start of the year; it is merely for School Cloud to send a confirmation email to you when you have successfully booked and saved your appointments.

The instructions at the end of the letter outline how to access the website in order to book appointments. Then, on the evening of your appointments, you will simply need to login using the same link and follow the onscreen instructions to begin the appointments you have booked.

There will a button stating: ‘Join Video Appointments’ which you should press.

There is nothing to install as the video appointments run through the School Cloud website and it is compatible with the following web browsers:

  • iPhone/iPad: Safari
  • Android: Chrome or Firefox
  • Windows: Chrome, Firefox, or Edge (latest version only)
  • Mac: Safari, Chrome, or Firefox

The minimum requirement for this software to work is an audio connection*.

*Parents or teachers joining a video call using an iPhone/iPad running iOS 14.2 are likely to experience stuttering audio which may stabilize itself after some time. This issue is not specific to SchoolCloud Parents’ Evening and affects joining any video through the Safari browser on iOS 14.2. This is caused by a bug in iOS 14.2 which is logged on Apple’s bug tracker. We recommend you not use Apple devices running iOS 14.2.

The appointments will be four minutes long and there will be a countdown. The appointment cannot be extended; when the countdown gets to zero, the software automatically stops the call. The appointment begins at the allotted time of booking; therefore, if you are late, you can join within the remaining time of the four minutes, however, the appointment cannot be extended. If the appointment is missed, there is no way to rearrange this.

You will see a schedule for the timing of the appointments along with the teacher’s name and there will be a large square which states Start Appointment; in order to begin the appointment, you have to press this. The video appointment will begin when the teacher also presses this.

Once a call has finished, the schedule will update and then the next call will need to be initiated. There is no need to sign in or out.

Then at the end of all scheduled appointments, a confirmation button indicating that the appointments have finished will show and prompt you to sign out.

Year 10 Mock Interviews – Tuesday 29th March

Year 10 students took part in mock interviews on Tuesday 29th March at the Civic Centre. We had a number of professional volunteers from different industries including the British Army, Police and NHS along with some experienced parents and ex-students. The day was a huge success and our students were a credit to our school demonstrating a fantastic attitude towards their interviews. Our volunteers commended students for their confidence, professionalism and passion and were particularly impressed with the students’ preparation and presentation.

Well done Year 10, you should be really proud of yourselves and we hope you had a fantastic day!

A huge thank you also goes to our volunteers. We could not have run this event without you, your time is much appreciated and our students have had an invaluable and inspiring experience which will prepare them for future endeavours.
