Task:
1/. Create a short list of 3 potential topics to study for you’re a level art course (you may wish to consult SHS/ MMN)

Discuss your short list with your art teacher and decide upon the best choice

2/. Create a mind-map of your chosen topic (see mind maps from GCSE art)

3/. Take a series of 10 photos connected with your topic

4/. Make 3 drawings from your photos- 1 in pen, 1 in pencil. 1 in pencil crayon

5/. Select 3 artists who are connected to your theme and create an A3 artist research page for each (see artist research pages for GCSE projects)

Why is this required for September?
You will need to arrive for lessons in September with this ground work in place, as lessons and homeworks will build, immediately upon this foundation.
What Assessment/Feedback should you expect?
All work will be looked-at by your teachers, discussions will take place between yourself and your teachers, your work will be, “post-it noted” with tasks for you to do in order to refine and develop the work submitted
Time this task (s) should take:
 A minimum of 6 hours will be required to complete the tasks and present them professionally and appropriately in your sketch book.

Visiting galleries and museums relating to your line of enquiry. Additional reading on your chosen topic.
How will this link to independent study tasks in September?
The work created will be used immediately in September as a starting point. Your own photographs will be of particular importance and will need to be of a reasonable size and clarity (A5 minimum)

You will be using these from September until October half term as a starting point for a series of workshops which support you to explore different ways of drawing.
