Our History students have participated in some brilliant cultural capital activities so far this academic year. At the end of last term, our Y9 Historians visited the Thackray medical museum, where they sat in a Victorian operating theatre, and were part of a demonstration about surgery during the Industrial Revolution. They had a great day viewing the range of exhibits, from ‘diease street’ to an apothecary shop and an iron lung!
Our Y8 Historians spent 2 days at the National Holocaust centre, where we were lucky to hear from a Holocaust survivor, Hedi Argent. We also visited the memorial garden and were able to place stones on the memorial to all of the children who lost their lives in the Holocaust. It was a thought provoking and touching day.
