CAFOD Parish Ambassador Launch – Working in Solidarity and Prioritising the Preferential Option for the Poor

Following the call to mission during our recent Sixth Form Retreat Day by CAFOD speaker, Chris Gallagher, we held our CAFOD Parish Ambassador Launch Meeting at St Philip Neri Church.  Nine of our Sixth Form students gave up their Saturday morning to gather and set up an action plan to bring back to our school and parish.  They’re looking forward to meeting monthly on Mondays and sharing their plans and actions with others in the school and community to support and fundraise for this great charity. If you’d like to get involved with this new initiative, please contact our chaplains.

The Sixth Form team have been working hard to live out our school mission and motto, ‘We Shall Serve’, by running today’s Macmillan Coffee Morning.  Well done to all for a great effort and thanks to all who supported by baking, donating and buying the delicious treats!

The importance of fundraising here at All Saints’ is not just to raise money for a certain charity, but it gives the responsibility to our students and shows them the impact that they can make on the society around them when they join together for local charities and also bigger charities like CAFOD.

We have started the year with the 6th Form holding a very successful McMillian coffee morning which was well supported by staff and students.

House Charity

This year each house has been fundraising for a charity they voted for at the start of the year. The charities include: the Emily Harris Foundation, CAFOD, Faith in Families, John Eastwood Hospice and Aid to the Church in Need.

Students organised many different fundraising activities that happened in school over the course of several weeks. Each house lived out the school motto of ‘We Shall Serve’ amazingly by serving the people in our community and in the world through the effort that was put into fundraising. This is what each house raised:

Industria: £285.79

Caritas: £350.13

Vocare: £263.47

Fortitudo: £158.55

Fidem: £397.33

Representatives from the various charities came into school to thank students and accept the house donations.
