New School SENCO

Dear Parents and Carers,

I hope this letter finds you well.

I am writing to introduce myself as the school’s new Special Educational Needs Coordinator (SENCO) at All Saints’ Catholic Academy, beginning in September. I understand that changes in staffing – particularly in a role as important as this – may feel unsettling, and I would like to take this opportunity to reassure you of my commitment to supporting both you and your child through this transition.

I have been a teacher of English at the school for the past twenty-three years, and during that time I have had the privilege of working closely with many students and families. This experience has given me a strong understanding of our school community, as well as the diverse needs of our young people. I am deeply committed to ensuring that every student is supported to thrive, both academically and personally.

I recognise how important consistency, communication, and trust are when it comes to supporting students with additional needs. Please be assured that I will work closely with staff, students, and families to maintain continuity of support and to build positive, collaborative relationships with you.

To help make this transition as smooth as possible, I will be organising an opportunity during the first term for parents and carers to meet me. This will provide you with a chance to ask questions, share any concerns, and begin to build the partnerships that are so vital to effective SEN provision. Further details about this meeting will follow in due course.

In the meantime, please do not hesitate to get in touch with the school if you have any immediate queries or would like to make contact.

I am very much looking forward to working with you and your child, and to continuing the strong support that our school offers.

Have a wonderful summer.

Your faithfully,

Mrs L Lathall
