Year 6 Transition Information
I would like to take the opportunity to welcome you to All Saints’ Catholic Academy.
As a result of recent school closures, we have sadly not had the chance to meet students in person. Some will have had on-line presentations in the primary schools but we look forward to meeting the rest of the new cohort as soon as it is possible.
We do not know what the rest of the academic year will bring, so we have started to release out transition information to you early.
The literature which you will have received already in the post, as well as this transition booklet, should answer some of the urgent and pressing questions you have as well as giving students a few activities to start working on. We look forward to seeing this work in September in the folder of secondary- ready documents.
Future information sent to you will include more activities from different subject areas as well as information about school buses, uniform and the layout of the school, which will help you and your families feel prepared to make a confident and successful start to year 7.
With very best wishes
Mrs Susan Harris (Year 7 Progress Leader)
Tasks to Complete
Dear parents and carers,
I trust that this message finds you well and I would like to welcome you to the second phase of information to support you and your child in moving from primary to secondary school under these challenging circumstances.
I hope you have had chance to read some of the information, which has been posted in our Transition space on the school website and found the material useful and informative. Above all else I hope it has put your minds at rest and answered some of your burning questions.
I also hope that your youngsters have made a good start in creating their secondary-ready folders of evidence and have had a go at some of the tasks, possibly completed a book review and searched out certificates, praise letters from school and pieces of work of which they are proud.
Our second phase of information focuses on the subjects your children will be taught at All Saints’ School during year 7. Each department has created a brief overview of what they are all about and put together some YouTube clips to be watched as well as some fun and interactive activities. Again, it would be lovely to see the fruits of their labours in their secondary- ready folders. Many of the primary schools I have managed to speak to are aware of this space on the website and the work. I understand some of them may try to make time to have a look together in school over these last few weeks.
I am sure like the rest of us you are all wondering how the end of this term will pan out and what school life will be like in September. Unfortunately, none of us know the answers to any of these questions at the moment, but please be assured that we are doing all we can to plan to support your children moving from primary to secondary in the best ways that we can.
Myself, and the Senior Leadership Team are currently discussing our next steps and we will let you know our plans as soon as they are consolidated. Please keep your eye on this space on our website in the mean-time.
Please also be assured that myself and Mrs. Bamford (Special Educational Needs Coordinator) have begun making contact with primary colleagues to share information about your children which will support us to meet their pastoral and education needs.
I close by hoping that you enjoy and find useful the new material I add to this space today.
With best wishes
Mrs. Susan Harris
