Luke Pearce in Year 10 has been selected by Gymnastics Ireland to be a member of their Junior team.  Luke has flown to Montpelier in France for the Men’s Artistic Gymnastics Championships which are being held from 19-27 May.  This means that Luke has now won his first international cap and will be competing against world class gymnasts including those from Russia and China.  We wish Luke well and hope this will be first of many caps he will achieve in his gymnastics career!

Extended study leave for Year 11 students has now begun so that students can prepare themselves fully for the GCSE examinations.

To support students during their examinations, we will be offering some revision workshops for exams due to take place up to and after the half term break. These will include practice on exam questions, useful tips and an opportunity too for students to get help over specific problems.

All students must wear school uniform when ever they are in school. If they are in for an exam they need to go straight to the exam room. If they are in school for any other reason they must sign in at reception. If students are staying in school after an exam they will also need to sign in at reception.

We wish all of our students well in their exams and would remind parents and students that full school uniform should be worn at all times when they are in school.

Year 10 Mathematics Parents Evening
There will be an opportunity for parents of students in Year 10 to discuss their childs progress in mathematics on the 21st May from 18:00 to 18:45 in PA4. All parents are welcome.

Duke of Edinburgh Training

Recently students in Years 9 to 11, who are taking part in the Duke of Edinburgh's Award scheme, had their practice expeditions. This was in preparation for their finals later this summer, when they will be aiming to achieve either their Bronze or Silver Awards.
Year 9 students aiming for their Bronze Award, walked for 6 hours a day over two days with one over-night camp. Year 10 and 11 students who are looking to succeed at the Silver Award had to walk for 7 hours a day for three days with two over-night camps. During each practice weekend all students behaved well and acted in a mature manner to successfully complete their expeditions. Well done to all those involved.

Congratulations to the inspirational All Saints' Stormers' who recently achieved 1st place in the Key Stage 4 Cheer, at the Regional Cheerleading Championships at Nottingham Trent University. Raising the Participation Age

Congratulations to Sixth Form students Eleanor Lowe and Scarlett Longden, who have successfully completed their Young Ambassador training. Eleanor’s role as a Platinum Ambassador and Scarlett’s role as a Gold Ambassador are to promote the London 2012 Olympic and Paralympic games and encourage schools to join in the Get Set network; to increase participation and promote active lifestyles amongst other people in the community; to train and mentor new Young Ambassadors and to undertake an advocacy role with key adults about the role played by Young Ambassadors. We wish them all the success in their preparation leading up to London 2012.

CREATIVE ENVIRONMENT

Last year a group of students worked collaboratively with a design company, the Blue and White Creatives to design a selection of panels that would improve the learning environment in RE. Through various consultations with staff, students, governors and the designers the panels are nearly ready for print. The panels have been designed by the students and staff across the school and merged together by the designers. Each panel is unique and designed to reflect the topic area. Here is a preview of what to expect.
